About Bill Split Calculator

Bill Split Calculator helps people divide a shared expense into clear, checkable contributions. It is designed for friends at dinner, partners managing household bills, roommates dividing rent, and groups planning trips. You can split a total evenly, use the amount each person ordered, or assign relative shares when an equal split does not fit your agreement.

Tax and tip can be entered as percentages or dollar amounts. Percentage tips use the pre-tax subtotal. When the bill already includes tax, the calculator separates it out rather than adding it again. Individual-order splits distribute the extra charges proportionally, and Advanced controls let you exclude a person from a particular charge. Tax estimates are for reference only, not tax advice.

The tool is intentionally built without registration. Dividing a meal should not require setting up a profile, remembering a password, or giving away an email address. All calculations run locally in your browser. There is no account history, database of splits, or third-party analytics script attached to the calculator.

Amounts are allocated in whole cents, including any small remainder, so everyone’s contributions add up to the total. Transfer suggestions use your recorded payments when enabled, or assume equal previous payments otherwise. You can record multiple expenses and their payers, copy or share the settlement, or save a result image. The largest-debtor matching method is practical but does not promise a globally minimal transfer count.

You can copy a plain-text summary or create a link that carries the calculation in its URL fragment. Anyone who receives that link can read the included names and amounts. Use nicknames or generic labels if you prefer, and keep sensitive details out of shared links.
